ITAPS

We have a joint interest in "parallel coupling" problems, in which large-scale parallel simulations need to exchange data. The CCA community has often referred to the "MxN" problem of efficiently expressing and performing transfers of a source data object distributed over M processes to a recipient with a different distribution over N processes. The ITAPS community often uses the term "mesh to mesh transfer", and views the problem at a higher level than just moving data.

This collaboration seeks to bring together understanding and tools from both communities to develop a unified and general (within reason) approach to parallel coupling.
