Working Groups
There are a number of special interest groups that have formed within CCA Forum. These groups frequently convene as part of the quarterly CCA Forum meetings and may also have an associated email discussion group. Below is a list of the groups and a brief description of their purpose: TutorialA group formed to develop a set of tutorials for creating and using components. We regularly present tutorials in conjunction with CCA Forum meetings and at other venues, including the ACTS Collection Workshops and the SC conference series. Please visit the Tutorial Working Group web site. ApplicationsThere are a couple of application areas that forum members participating in the CCTTSS SciDAC Center are supporting directly as early adopters of component technology. Working groups associated with these application areas are:
DataA group interested in standardizing interfaces to various data structures/objects of interest to HPC scientific computing. Current activities include distributed arrays, unstructured meshes, and structured adaptive meshes. Please visit the Data-WG web site. MxN Data RedistributionA group formed to defined standard interfaces for moving data from one set of processors (M) to another set (N) in a scalable fashion. Variously know as the MxN (or KxP) problem with disk-write avoidance. Send email to the group at cca-mxn@mailhub.ornl.gov or visit the MxN pages at ORNL and Indiana University. Embeddable scriptingThis group connects folk interested in scripting interfaces for a CCA-compliant framework. These interfaces would allow components to be composed and run from a standard scripting language such as Python. Send email to the group at cca-script@z.ca.sandia.gov. Computational Quality of ServiceThis group is dedicated to automating components to optimize performance and accuracy of a single numerical algorithm or a whole simulation. A number of papers and presentation materials are available. Time AdvanceThis group connects folk interested in standard interfaces (CCA Ports) for advancing time within a component. An example of component that might choose to use this interface is a Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) component that integrates fluid-state variables forward in time. Send email to the group at cca-time@listserv.lanl.gov. UsabilityThis group serves as a focal point for discussion and activities related to the "usability" of the CCA environment. This covers the usability of the CCA tools themselves as well as using them to develop and use your components. Feedback from users is strongly encouraged, as are discussions of CCA developers working to improve usability. To participate, sign up for the Usability-WG@cca-forum.org mailing list. An experimental wiki has been setup at http://www.mcs.anl.gov/ccatoolswiki. |
